- The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and practical skills when completing radio frequency for skin rejuvenation, or to improve the appearance of cellulite.
- Learners will acquire skills in providing a thorough consultation to establish client suitability for treatment; and also the knowledge on how to formulate a specific treatment plan tailored to suit individual client’s needs.
- Learners will also be able to provide the client with relevant post-care to maximise treatment results and look after their skin post-treatment.
Enhance appearance using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)
- Interpret the environmental and safety considerations to be considered when providing HIFU treatments
- Comprehend the protocols and guidelines when providing HIFU treatments
- Demonstrate how to consult, plan and prepare for HIFU treatment
- Demonstrate how to provide HIFU treatment
Provide Skin Needling Treatments

IPL Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation
This unit teaches IPL for the use of photo-rejuvenation of the skin. This includes learning skills to treat different skin imperfections.
Skin Imperfections include:
- Telangiectasia
- Spider Naevi blood spots
- Fine lines
- Photo ageing
- uneven pigmentation
- colour and texture
- Campbell de Morgan
- Other body areas with lesions suitable for treatment
Award in Core of Knowledge for Laser and Light Devices
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop knowledge on the characteristics of laser, IPL and LED radiation and skin tissue reaction to laser, IPL and LED application. Additionally learners will cover hazards and precautions, safety management, safe product sourcing, risk assessments, quality assurance and relevant and associated legislation influencing the purchase and use of laser and light devices. Learners will also gain an understanding of the safe working practices required in order to protect themselves and their clients when applying laser and light devices
Perform hair growth reduction using Intense Pulsed Light systems
- IPL treatments for hair removal – to include consultation, skin and hair analysis, recognising contra-indications and contra-actions, carrying out relevant tests prior to treatment and adapting the treatment to the client’s needs
- IPL treatments for skin rejuvenation – to include consultation, skin analysis (Fitzpatrick scale), recognising contra-indications and contra-actions, carrying out relevant tests prior to treatment and adapting the treatment to the client’s needs
- Managing health, safety and security in the salon
